Rigging for Rescue

On Saturday, we wrapped up our first ever SPRAT rope access training and evaluation session at the newly minted Rigging for Rescue Superstructure. The vision for the Superstructure was to be able to not only offer SPRAT rope access trainings, but also have an indoor facility for dry land practice of RfR rope rescue techniques. The structure is also engineered to include an indoor drop tower for systems testing.

A total of six Level 1 candidates successfully completed their independent evaluation and are now certified Level 1 rope access technicians via the Society of Professional Rope Access Technicians (SPRAT). Congrats to all! Additionally, local Ouray Ice Park and Rope Partner employee Lucas Carrion successfully passed his Level 3 SPRAT evaluation, which includes a very challenging day of complex rope access rescue maneuvers. Congrats, Lucas! Well done.

A big shout out to Petzl and the new Petzl Technical Partner (PTP) program that includes Rigging for Rescue. Petzl has been instrumental in providing support for our rope rescue and rope access programs including subject matter expertise from the Petzl Technical Institute in Salt Lake City. We are proud to be included in the PTP program (https://petzlsolutions.com/ptp/). Thank you, Petzl!

Our plan for 2021 is to have a number of SPRAT trainings available on our Open enrollment calendar. Please check back soon for an update on our website as we are currently finalizing our calendar of events.
