ROPE RESCUE I - Fundamentals, Eaton, CO
REGISTRATION AND PRICING INFORMATION:
FIVE DAYS OF INTENSIVE INSTRUCTOR-LEVEL ROPE RESCUE TECHNIQUES AND PRINCIPLES
Rope Rescue I- Fundamentals explores in great depth and breadth the topics & techniques for effectively conducting sound rope rescue operations. This offering will emphasize development of exceptional fundamental skills while maintaining the sought-after Rigging for Rescue curriculum flexibility. By tailoring the seminar content to the group at hand, the material presented is well-focused and applicable to the participants needs.
A heightened level of understanding comes from critical thinking and systems analysis – two hallmark traits of all Rigging for Rescue seminars. As educators in the craft, it is our intent to explain and demonstrate both the how’s and the why’s behind the systems and devices we recommend.
Each day will be a combination of lectures, demonstrations and discussions, along with practical hands-on field sessions. Participants can expect a dynamic training environment that fosters improved decision-making, as well as development of fundamental tactile skills.
Rope Rescue I – Fundamentals curriculum includes skills outlined in NFPA 1006-2021 edition, Operations Level for Rope Rescue. Additionally, the seminar content meets and exceeds the ASTM F2954 – Standard Guide for Training for Intermediate Rope Rescuer Endorsement.
- engineering mechanics and physics principles applicable to rope rescue
- techniques for optimizing your anchor systems
- rescue belay devices and descent control devices
- misconceptions about rope stretch and peak force
- statics and dynamics along with suitable rigging approaches for each
- how “self-equalizing” anchor systems can be a misguided approach
- new devices in rope rescue
- a detailed compare/contrast of Single Main/Separate Belay vs Dual Tension rope systems
- litter-handling techniques
- patient packaging strategies along with litter orientation considerations
- why certain belay techniques and/or devices are unsuitable for rescue-sized loads
- efficient and effective raising and lowering systems
- simple, compound, and complex pulley systems
- a systematic approach to rigging inspections
- effective strategies for managing command & control including scene size-up, team briefing, and operational commands
- ongoing research and testing results from the drop tower and tensile testing machine
- and much more
The above list is not exhaustive, nor is it a checklist. One of the hallmark traits of a Rigging for Rescue program is the flexible curriculum. Specific techniques & topics covered are influenced by the overall participant mix and their interests. Each Rigging for Rescue seminar or workshop is a custom experience.
