Self Rescue and Small Team Response

Available to participants who have a solid base level of experience and skill in ropework and an interest in companion rescue and ‘ground-up’ approaches. Also open to participants who have previously attended
RfR – Fundamentals.

Available to participants who have a solid base level of experience and skill in ropework and an interest in companion rescue and ‘ground-up’ approaches. It is also open to participants who have previously attended
RfR – Fundamentals.

Finding Balance – Integrating Team Leadership and Patient Care

Finding Balance – Integrating Team Leadership and Patient Care is available to participants who have previously attended RfR – Fundamentals, or the original RfR – The Seminar 7-day program

Rigging for Rescue Seminars are not introductory “how to” seminars, but rather in-depth inquiry-based offerings that focus on critical thinking and systems analysis. We specifically cater to those people who want to go further to understand the “whys” of technical rope work principles and systems. We will start with a review of basic concepts and quickly build on these throughout the seminar to arrive at systems that are more complex by the end of the week.

Our approach to rope rescue education is to offer programs that are at an instructor level. By instructor level, we mean that we do not spend much time on basic rigging techniques such as: knots, ties, ascending, descending, donning personal equipment, etc. Participants should have this knowledge well in hand. However, we do spend considerable time and effort to present the background research and testing, as well as physics principles, behind the techniques taught – additional information that an instructor should have before teaching techniques to others at a simpler level.

IN AN EFFORT TO CREATE A RICH FORUM FOR LEARNING, PRIOR TO EACH SEMINAR WE REQUEST ALL PARTICIPANTS BE ABLE TO:

Any Program:

don all personal protective equipment
demonstrate proficiency in basic knots & ties
ascend/descend a rope
construct a multi-point anchor
utilize commonly accepted rope rescue, ropework, and climbing terminology regarding topics & techniques

Climbing Related Programs:

all of the requirements for Any Programs, PLUS:
demonstrate solid climbing skills with a desire to enhance companion rescue skills
possess a basic familiarity with placement of traditional climbing anchors such as wedges, hexes, and spring loaded camming devices
