Slow pull and drop testing of 9.5mm Sterling Tactical Response
Abstract:
A number of mountain rescue as well as Department of Defense rope rescue teams utilize aramid fiber ropes for their backcountry operations. Cited benefits include:
- Heat resistance
- High tensile strength
- Robust abrasion resistance
The testing conducted included:
- Slow pull tensile testing of the host rope as well as rope/device combined
- Dynamic drop testing to the Belay Competence Drop Test Method
The intent was to gain a better understanding of the capabilities and limitations of the Tactical Response Rope for rope rescue operations.
